Kam Wah Cafe @ Prince Edward, Hong Kong
Do you like this story?
Kam Wah Cafe (金華冰廳), located in Bute Street, Hong Kong is well-known for its Polo Buns (菠蘿包), also known as Pineapple Buns due to its resemblance of the fruit.

Kam Wah Cafe (金華冰廳)
Kam Wah Cafe is located right on the busy Bute Street, which can easily be spotted due to the crowds outside the restaurant taking away the delicious Polo Buns and other pastries.

Polo Bun (菠蘿包)
When it comes to Polo Buns, Kam Wah Cafe is the place to be. Many who have tasted them have testified that Kam Wah has the best Polo Buns in Hong Kong, and as a matter of fact, in the entire world (since Polo Buns originated from Hong Kong). We have to admit the Polo Bun is as good as it gets. Crispy, flaky and yet tantalizing. Perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

Cocktail Bun (鸡尾包)
Cocktail Bun (鸡尾包) is yet another recommendation as it is a specialty of Hong Kong, originating in the 1950s. The bun is made from leftover buns. Its filling is made of unsold buns, granulated sugar, and shredded coconut. Despite that, Cocktail Bun is surprisingly delightful.

Egg Tart (蛋撻)
Egg Tart (蛋撻) is also one of the pastries that Kam Wah serves. Unlike its Polo Buns, the egg tarts are not their specialty. True enough, it is still satiating for our appetites.

HK style Milk Tea (Hot) (热奶茶)
HK style Milk Tea (Hot) (热奶茶) is a must when you visit Hong Kong. Unlike the tea in Malaysia, HK style Milk tea is totally different as it is heavily-scented with the distinct flavor of tea.

HK style Milk Coffee (Hot) (热咖啡)
HK style Milk Coffee (Hot) (热咖啡), on the other hand, is unsweetened and not as remarkable as the tea. In Hong Kong “Char Chan Teng”, if you order any hot coffee, you have to add sugar from the sugar jar available on each table. For the cold version, the sugar is already added during the process of the coffee-making.

Kam Wah Cafe Takeaway Counter
Can’t find a place to sit? Don’t fret, Kam Wah Cafe has a takeaway counter just outside its premise. Like its restaurant, Kam Wah Cafe takeaway counter is always packed with people. Not very surprising for such delightful Polo Buns and other pastries.

Polo Yao (菠羅油)
We took away a Polo Yao (菠羅油) and brought it with us to eat in the park of Hong Kong Disneyland!
Overall, Kam Wah Cafe is indeed the place to be for the infamous Polo Buns. The staff are also quick and the service is efficient. There is definitely a return visit when we go to Hong Kong once again.
