Garrett Popcorn Shops has recently opened up a branch in Malaysia at Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur and also at One Utama, Petaling Jaya.

Garrett Popcorn Shops originates from Chicago and has been around since 1949 although it only recently opened its outlets in Malaysia. Besides Malaysia, Garrett Popcorn Shops have outlets in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, New York and of course, Chicago.

The flavors

The flavours available are Buttery or Plain, The Chicago Mix, CaramelCrisp™, CheeseCorn™ and CaramelCrisp™ with Almond or Cashews or Macadamia. Recently, Garrett Popcorn Shops has introduced new flavor Spicy CheeseCorn™ for a limited time.

CaramelCrisp™ is crunchy, slightly on the sweet side and simply delicious.

CheeseCorn™

CheeseCorn™, on the other hand, has softer texture, is cheesy and it melts in your mouth.

Garrett Popcorn Large vs. Small

We bought a large packet for the family to share and two small packets for ourselves but they were more than enough.

A large packet is more than enough for a small family of five as there are no point keeping the popcorn for a long time since it doesn’t come with preservatives, unlike other popcorns while a small packet is sufficient for sharing among two or three persons.

Believe it or not, there are six sizes available in all, ranging from small at MYR 16 for flavored popcorn (or MYR 9 for Buttery or Plain) to MYR 149 for 2-gallon which comes with a beautifully-designed tin. For CaramelCrisp™ with Almond or Cashews or Macadamia, it costs MYR 229 for the 2-gallon version!

Overall, Garrett Popcorn Shops certainly has the best popcorns in the world but as imprinted on every packets, Garrett Popcorn is made fresh and therefore, it is recommended to be consumed immediately even though CheeseCorn™ probably can last a little longer.
